Zen Broadband Review
Zen Broadband can be classified as a budget type of package since it does not include TV or any other types of add-ons which are usually offered by Virgin or Sky. However, compared to the other types of internet providers, Zen broadband packages are not actually the cheapest. Hence, what is Zen broadband all about? Well, let’s take a look.
Speed
The broadband packages that are offered by Zen are similar to the ones that are offered by other providers which use the Openreach broadband network. Most providers are using Openreach since it is considered as one of the largest broadband networks in UK.
Zen offers ADSL broadband packages which are also known as Fast Broadband. You can choose between a 12-month or one-month contract. These packages have an average download speed of 10Mbps and an average upload speed of 1Mbps. Take note that the one-month contract does not include a free router.
There are two types of superfast broadband packages. The first one is the basic fibre package which has an average download speed of 35Mbps and an upload speed of 6Mbps. The other fibre package is much faster since it offers an average download speed of 66Mbps and an average upload speed of 17Mbps. Whatever fibre package you choose, you don’t have to pay any activation fee.
All of these broadband packages have unlimited usage and a free static IP address. Additionally, the cost of the line rental is already included in the price. The 12-month contract also includes a free router. Zen also promised their customers that there won’t be any price increase as long as they remain with Zen.
If you want the fastest speeds, then you can choose between the two ultrafast broadband packages from Zen. Both of these packages use the G.Fast technology. Just like the other packages offered by Zen, these deals also include a free router and a free static IP address. However, the activation fee is not free. This means that you have to check first if these deals are available in the area where you live.
Installation
If you will choose the 12-month broadband package, then you won’t have to pay for the installation. If you have an existing fibre service and you want to switch to a Zen fibre broadband, then the engineer won’t have to visit your home. Your line will be connected through the cabinet. You don’t even have to inform your provider unless if you are switching from Virgin.
Router
All new customers for Zen broadband packages can obtain free router. The router has four Gigabit Ethernet ports and dual wireless LAN. It gives you parental control as well as guest access control. The router can be managed through your tablets and mobile phones.
